NEW FAMILY

This addition/renovation to a single story house adds a second story to the rear of the house and provides more, better-organized space on the ground floor to serve the needs of two households combining to form one. A new entry is added to the front façade for an improved sense of entry. The existing kitchen and living area on the first floor are remodeled to open the two spaces up to each other, as well as adding additional kitchen work area. The new second floor, accessed from a new stair next to the kitchen, includes a master suite, multi-purpose room, laundry room and exterior balcony. Outside, the second story addition creates an arcade to provide covered access from the driveway to the kitchen, as well as covered outdoor dining space.
